Improve Spider Veins

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a treatment for varicose veins. We inject a hypertonic fluid that is an irritant to the vein. Your immune system identifies the area of inflammation and your white blood cells rush to the area to clean it up, clearing the damaged vessel. Blood then reroutes to healthier vessels for circulation.

In our office prices start at $150-$250 per treatment.

Prior to the procedure it is recommended to avoid aspirin or other blood thinners. We advise you to come in loose comfortable clothing. The procedure can last 15 minutes to an hour depending on the area and number of sites we are addressing.

There is minimal discomfort during the procedure as you may feel a slight stinging.

Immediately after the procedure we will apply compression to the area and recommend avoiding hot showers and baths in the week following. We also recommend avoiding exercise to the lower body for the next 3-4 days. Both of these instructions help limit vasodilation to the lower extremities and aides in the compression and healing of the affected area. Prepare for the area to look worse sometimes before it looks better!

Follow up appointments at 3-6 weeks are recommended to evaluate results and or possible continued treatment.

There are risks to all treatments. We have a 75-90% success rate but scarring and discoloration are always a risk. Our patient selection and low amounts of fluid injected lowers the risk of blood clots and other complications but this is always disclosed.

I’m always amazed at the first follow up appointment. To know results will keep getting better and better over the next several weeks is so gratifying!
